Get image

  • Category: Get from connected app

What it is

Pulls timeline still frames (up to 8) from the connected editing extension using one of several mutually exclusive modes, for preview, import or image description. Frames are extracted on your computer and do not use cloud tokens.

It reuses the collect / single-frame export of the Toolkit "Timeline stills" feature. The playhead mode uses the existing host snapshot.

Inputs

NameDescription
Wait for upstream write-backRuns after the upstream import has finished (optional)

Outputs

NameDescription
Image outputStill frames, several allowed (array)
Frame metadataJSON in the same shape as sourceFrames of Image describe
Timeline infoSummary of mode, sequence, frame count and so on
TimecodeShort summary of the first frame or the playhead

Settings

NameDescription
Frame mode (segmented bar, no text label)Playhead (default) / clip start and end / markers

Modes that are not reachable do not appear in the panel options. The multi-frame modes need a connected app that supports Toolkit stills (Premiere CEP/UXP, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects); other apps only offer "Playhead".

Typical wiring

ScenarioHow to connect
Frame → describeImage output → Image describe image input (Image describe has no frame metadata input; positions are merged silently)
Frame → markersFrame metadata → Create timeline markers frame metadata
Frame → promptFrame metadata → Text generation prompt

Typical downstream

Image describe, Create timeline markers, Find shots, Import image, Media info

Notes

  • Clip start and end: select a video clip on the timeline. It takes the first and last frame of that clip on the timeline (in apps with half-open ranges, the frame before the out point is the last frame).
  • Markers: sequence markers plus the markers on the selected clip.
  • Frame metadata is the authoritative source of positions. You can connect it straight to marker or text nodes without going through image description.

Agents / MCP

For agents or developers (optional)
  • Node type: host-timeline-get-image
  • Output ports: mat-image (can be an array), frames-meta, timeline-json, timeline-time
  • Setting: fetchMode (playhead | clip_ends | markers)
  • Typical downstream: still-describe, marker-create, generate-text, shot-search, host-timeline-apply-image
