Apply LUT

  • Category: Import to connected app

What it is

Applies a .cube LUT to the timeline of the connected editing app (the same apply path as after Look match in the Lab). It usually follows "Look match": Look match makes the LUT and this node writes it back.

This node grew out of the related abilities of LUT library in the Lab. Do not treat it as "Import image".

Inputs

NameDescription
LUT inputThe .cube to apply (usually the "LUT output" of "Look match")
Timeline info input (optional)Timeline context; usually not needed in the current apply flow

Outputs

NameDescription
WrittenTells downstream nodes they can continue once the LUT is applied

How to connect

Connect the "LUT output" of "Look match" to the "LUT input" of this node. Do not use "Import image" to apply a LUT.

Settings

NameDescription
Apply targetClip (apply straight to the selected clip) or Adjustment layer (a Premiere adjustment layer / a DaVinci Resolve color node). Follow the options in the panel

Typical downstream

Get image (to take a frame again and check the result after applying, add a new Get node)

Notes

  • Before writing back, make sure LmBox is connected to the matching app (DaVinci Resolve / Premiere / After Effects and so on).
  • This applies a lookup table. It does not import a picture.
  • Apply target: choose Clip to apply straight to the selected clip. With Adjustment layer, Premiere uses an adjustment layer and DaVinci Resolve uses a color node (follow the text in the panel).
  • To grab the timeline picture again after applying, add a new "Get image" node. Do not connect back to the same Get node.
  • Match a timeline frame and apply the LUT (playbook lut-match-timeline): forms the match-and-write-back chain with "Look match". See the recipes in the Blueprint lab overview

Agents / MCP

For agents or developers (optional)
  • Once LmBox's open MCP is connected, the full ports and settings can be read from the catalog. This page is written for people.
  • Node type: host-timeline-apply-lut
  • Input port ids: lut (LUT input, same name as the output port of Look match), timeline-json (optional)
  • Output port id: written (Written)
  • Setting key: lutApplyTarget (clip applies to the selected clip; adjust uses an adjustment layer / a DaVinci Resolve color node; default clip)
  • Typical downstream: host-timeline-get-image (must be a new Get node); scenario playbook: lut-match-timeline
  • Can run headless. Do not confuse it with host-timeline-apply-image.
