Installing the DaVinci Resolve plug-in on Mac

This page is for the older in-app plug-in for DaVinci Resolve. For the current setup, install the LmBox desktop app and add the plug-in from the Plug-in manager.

Note

Make sure DaVinci Resolve is closed before installing; if it is not, restart it after the install.
You can use either the One-click install or the Universal manual install method below.

Note

On some Macs, because of disk permissions, DaVinci Resolve may not open after the install. In System Settings, turn on Full Disk Access under Privacy & Security for DaVinci Resolve.

Compatibility

WARNING

Only the full version of DaVinci Resolve is supported, such as Studio (the Mac App Store version is excluded). If you use the free public version of DaVinci Resolve, or one bought from the Apple App Store, its plug-in support is cut down and lacks Workflow Integration. Restoring that is a roundabout process, but it can be solved; special thanks to the user Yuan Ye for the comparison data and the solution.

One-click install

  • Step 1: Download the Mac one-click installer to your computer, and make sure DaVinci Resolve is closed.
  • Step 2: Unzip the archive, run the installer inside, follow the prompts, then restart DaVinci Resolve.
  • Step 3: When it says the install is done, open DaVinci Resolve, then go to the menu bar: Workspace → Workflow Integrations → LmBox, and click to open it.

TIP

This is the default install location. If you need to uninstall by hand, look for it in the folder below. If it is already installed, paste the path below into Go to Folder in the Finder to jump to it.

shell
/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Workflow Integration Plugins/com.sockite.lmbox

Universal manual install (alternative)

  • Step 1: Download the universal plug-in pack to your computer and unzip it.
  • Step 2: Copy the Workflow Integration Plugins folder inside the plugin / extension install files folder to the location below, then restart DaVinci Resolve.
  • Step 3: When it says the install is done, open DaVinci Resolve, then go to the menu bar: Workspace → Workflow Integrations → LmBox, and click to open it.
shell
/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve
shell
/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Workflow Integration Plugins/com.sockite.lmbox

Uninstall the plug-in

Note

If you are upgrading, uninstall first and then install the new version!

  • Step 1: With the plug-in open, click Help in the plug-in panel's menu bar, then Uninstall plug-in → OK.
  • Step 2: The plug-in closes automatically after it uninstalls; restart DaVinci Resolve to finish.
  • Or delete the install folder by hand; see the path above.
