Look match
- Category: Generate
What it is
Automatically matches the color of a source still to a reference still and generates a .cube LUT (automatic mapping, no manual point picking). Strength defaults to about 80%, and the lookup table size is fixed at 33. The result usually goes to "Apply LUT" to write back to the timeline.
This node grew out of the related abilities of Look match in the Lab: wires in a blueprint do the matching, which makes it easy to reuse and to hand to an agent.

Inputs
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Reference image | Still frame of the target look; must be connected on its own |
| Source | The still frame to be matched (a timeline frame from "Get image", or a local image) |
Outputs
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| LUT output | The generated .cube, sent to the "LUT input" of "Apply LUT" |
How to connect
Connect the source and the reference separately: the source to "Source" and the reference to "Reference image". Do not stack both images on one path. A common setup: current timeline frame → Source; local reference image → Reference image.
Settings
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Strength | How strongly to match; about 0.8 by default |
Typical downstream
Notes
- Always wire the reference image on its own. Do not mix it with the source on one input.
- The output is a "LUT output", not a graded picture. To write it back to the timeline, use "Apply LUT", not "Import image".
- Before writing back, make sure LmBox is connected to the matching app.
Related recipes
- Match a timeline frame and apply the LUT (playbook
lut-match-timeline): the current frame is the source, a local reference image produces the.cube, and it is applied to the timeline. See the recipes in the Blueprint lab overview
Agents / MCP
For agents or developers (optional)
- Once LmBox's open MCP is connected, the full ports and settings can be read from the catalog. This page is written for people.
- Node type:
lut-match - Input port ids:
reference(Reference image),source(Source); output port id:lut(LUT output) - Setting key:
strength(about 0.8 by default); the lookup table size is fixed at 33 - Typical downstream:
host-timeline-apply-lut; scenario playbook:lut-match-timeline - The two image paths must be added with separate
edge.addcalls. Do not stack them on one input withrecipe.from - Can run headless.
